- Achieved municipal pension reform with a major union by switching new city hall employees into a 401-K type definedcontribution plan
- “Deserves credit for producing an honest, transparent budget in difficult economic times and for working on structural changes like pension reform that will alleviate financial problems over the long haul.” (Cranston Herald, June 10, 2010)
- Improved city’s bond rating to an “A” status
- Attracted over 500 new jobs into Cranston
